American Idol runner-up and hopeful heir to the glam rock thing Adam Lambert, in town for a sold out show tonight at The Warfield, dropped in to dine with friends at Lafitte last night around 11 p.m. The restaurant has become a go-to late-night spot for some of the cast of Wicked, and Lambert was part of the same touring company and L.A. cast in his pre-Idol days. Grub Street asked chef Russell Jackson what he made for the group, and he replied, “Leftovers, mostly.”

“They ate family style, and it’s just easier for us to use what we’ve got and not let them order off the menu.”

Their menu included mackerel with roasted lipstick peppers, frisée and spring onions, seared scallops with sea beans, and roasted lamb with ratatouille, which will be a summer staple on the Lafitte menu for a few more weeks.
