Last year's San Francisco Street Food Fest, the first of its kind, was so hyped and publicized that people came from every corner of the inner Bay Area to check out what was essentially a one-block-long affair. This year, organizers at La Cocina promise "seven times the space and four times the vendors," spread out over several blocks near Folsom and 24th. And to kick off a summer of outdoor eating, they've just launched their own sub-site of the Foodspotting app called Cartspotting, where they need you to vote for your favorite street food.
They've narrowed the list to the 50 best street foods in town, and by democratic process they want users to vote in a top
ten eight, who'll all be invited to the fest in August. So bring some Wet Naps, and have it!
This year's fest happens August 21st from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and it will be quickly followed by Oakland's slightly more Slow Food-ie version, the Eat Real Fest, from August 27th to the 29th.
Below, the lineup of vendors for the S.F. Street Food Fest as it stands, to which --a ssuming the top eight from Cartspotting aren't already on here -- at least eight more will be added.
