Neyah White Steps Away From the Bar at Nopa

Local bar star Neyah White, who has thoughtfully discussed issues with Grub Street ranging from the Great Angostura Bitters Shortage of 2010 to his enduring hatred of vodka, announces today that he’s leaving his post as bar manager at Nopa at the end of June. He’s off to become a brand ambassador for Suntory Whiskeys’ Yamazaki Single Malts — you might recall Suntory as the brand Bill Murray was pimping in Lost In Translation.

“Stepping out from behind the bar is an unsettling thing when you have been back there as long as I have,” Neyah writes, “[but] working with a brand and people like this make it much easier.” No word yet as to who will be promoted as Neyah’s replacement.
