We broke the news about Skool (1725 Alameda Street), the new Potrero Hill fish restaurant with hip-hop cred from Blowfish alum Andy Mirabell and his partners — which include fiancée Olia Kedek, and husband and wife chef team Toshihiro and Hiroko Nagano. Skool is now open for lunch only, and it seems the liquor license may be a ways off, so Olia tells us today, “We decided to open for dinner anyway, with free corkage, next week.” It’s a soft opening, July 9, and there will still be kinks to work out with the dinner menu, but hopefully some practice at lunch will have them all warmed up. Of note, Toshiro Nagano is formerly of Bushi-Tei and Bushi-Tei Bistro.

Lunch offerings include things like a crab sandwich with avocado and a poached egg ($13), a coffee-marinated Washu beef sandwich with mozzarella and parmesan ($15), and a flatbread with Japanese aji, caramelized onion, goat cheese, sundried tomato and olive tapenade ($13).

Expect even more flatbreads and pizzas at night, and some hearty fish entrés. Check out our full slideshow of the brand new space, which, as promised, has a lovely patio for al fresco eating.
