An Update on Zero Zero, Opening in July

Bruce Hill’s new SoMa pizzeria, in the former Azie space at 826 Folsom (next door to LuLu), is coming together and aiming for a late July debut. Grub Street noticed today that their liquor license came through, and we also hear word that Hill poached two staffers from six-month-old Credo: general manager Tim Felkner and bar manager Joel Teitelbaum. Tim has already left his former post to help with the hiring process at Zero Zero, and Joel’s last day at Credo is Friday.

Joel tells Grub Street, “The upstairs bar alone is the size of the bar at Credo, and I’m going to get to do a bunch of stuff with the cocktail program, especially back-of-house type stuff, that there just wasn’t space for at Credo.”

Hill already has two successful Larkspur restaurants, Picco and Pizzeria Picco, not to mention Bix in San Francisco, so of the seven upcoming new pizza joints arriving in town, Zero Zero may be the one to beat — and possibly the only one with a full liquor license and fancy cocktail program, so there’s that.
