Fast on the heels of SF Weekly’s more comprehensive Best of list, 7x7 just unveiled their Bests for the year, with several easy choices we can agree on like Best $1 Wine (Frances), and Best Indian on Wheels (Curry Up Now). But this being 7x7, it wouldn’t be a listicle without some bold statements about trends. Even though we’re not yet halfway through the year, they declare this both the Year of the Izakaya (citing Nombe and Izakaya Sozai as evidence) and the year that goat and lamb belly shall supplant pork belly on menus (citing only Betelnut as evidence).
We’ll be sure to look out for a recapitulation of these trends when 7x7 and others do their end of year wrap-ups. What shall supplant the cupcake, we ask you, our magazine oracles? We really hope something does.
