And in a Scoop bonus this afternoon, Paolo tells us that MR. (560 Sacramento), the FiDi barbershop where you could throw back a beer or three while getting a trim and a shave, has clippered its last sideburn. Aimed at banker types and opened in 2007 at perhaps the worst moment for such a concept, the bar/gallery/lounge/barbershop had clearly struggled in recent months offering free haircuts — which often led to a hard sell for their pre-paid haircut “membership” program — and group deals for guys who like day-drinking. Look for this space to convert back to a straight-ahead bar in the near future.
