New Owners Take Mecca Space, Trader Vic’s Emeryville to Shutter for Several Months, and More
Castro/Safeway Heights: Uptown Almanac reports on the change-of-ownership notice that went up in the window at the former Mecca space (2029 Market Street), and some further digging tells us that the listed manager of new owner Fam 888 Enterprises is named Anna Luk. We're not finding anything on Ms. Luk, but we're curious to know what's up. As always, feel free to send us a tip!
Emeryville: For reasons as yet unclear, old-timey Tiki establishment Trader Vic's is shuttering temporarily from April 30th through September. They'll be running some "too good to be true" specials starting on Sunday for their loyal customers. [Tablehopper]
SoMa: We reported back in the fall that French Laundry chef Corey Lee would be taking over the TWO space at 22 Hawthorne Lane, and it now appears that his new restaurant, named Benu, is on track for a July debut. [Eater]
North Beach: The very eagerly awaited Comstock Saloon, which was first scheduled to open in March, and then rescheduled for this week, has pushed back once again to mid-May. [Grub Street]
