Jonathan Kauffman finds that “one noontime hot dog seems to keep a gut humming until dinnertime.” While that’s never been the case for us (Are we gluttons? Don’t answer that.), we’re happy he’s provided a nice guide to the city’s “extreme” hot dogs, including the Waffledog at Little Skillet, and the Chicago-style dog at Da Beef. [SF Weekly]
In an uncharacteristically effusive rave, Paul Reidinger calls the food at RN74 “exemplary” and only giving a slight “less compelling” to a few main courses. Oddly, he talks up owner Michael Mina, but doesn’t seem to be aware that the executive chef at the Beard-nominated eatery is actually Jason Berthold. He’s not thrilled with the location (aww, there’s the Paul we know. It’s never all good…) but he writes, “It is beautiful and elegant inside but not overwrought, and it is (so far) one-of-a-kind.” [SFBG]
