Citron Closes in Rockridge, Scott Howard Eyes Corte Madera, and More

Oakland: Citron, the venerable Rockridge white-tablecloth bistro opened by Craig Thomas in the early 90s and taken over by Chris Rossi, is closed, ladies and gentlemen. Let’s watch how fast that prime location gets snapped up. (P.S. Craig moved on a while back to open Red Tavern in Chico.) [Tablehopper]
Corte Madera: Eater has it on good authority that chef Scott Howard (currently of Five in Berkeley) is nosing around Izzy’s Steaks & Chops and thinking of taking it off the owners’ hands. Update: The Scoop says Howard has already left Five, and has been replaced by Banks White. [Eater]

Sunset: Social Kitchen and Brewery looks to be open on or around April 20th. [Tablehopper]
Cow Hollow: Remember the mystery surrounding “Not-Monaghans” (a.k.a. C.C’s Pierce Street Manor) and Monaghan’s maybe moving there? Well, it seems like the sports bar has empire building plans… They’ve scooped up the vacant Bayside Bar & Grill too, and will reopen it as Union Street Grill (imaginative!). [Eater]
Also in Cow Hollow: Roam Artisan Burgers is stepping in to take over the former Skipjack Sushi at 1785 Union Street. [Eater]
Mission: Charanga just got itself a couple new chefs: David Leland and Valerie Hemstreet. If all goes well with the ABC, they’re going to have a new cocktail program, too, from Ty Sanders of Big Four fame. [Eater]
