Go Ask Alice

Alice Waters Wants More Air Time

In a total multimedia assault, Alice Waters’s ’Green Kitchen’ online series, which became a book, may now become a regular TV series on public television. “Some of my heroes of cooking have been on PBS in the past,” Alice told the AP, and it sounds like the series would potentially be shot in her Chez Panisse kitchen featuring guest chefs and farmers. She sounds encouraged by network TV’s love for the arguably more camera-ready Jamie Oliver. And Oliver, for his part, is quick to leap to Alice’s defense, saying “there’s nothing elitist” about her or her philosophies. Well, maybe not by PBS standards, anyway.
