Taste a Kangaroo Burger at the Tee Off and a Shrimp and Mango Samosa at Neela’s

Now that there’s a nationwide shortage of goat, perhaps we should be turning our attention to some other less common meats like the $20 kangaroo burger they serve at the Tee Off Bar & Grill out by the Presidio golf course. The blogger over at The Perfect Spot just turned us on to the idea in her roundup of dishes from new and sometimes not-so-new restaurants, and sounds pretty good with fried onions and kiwi relish on top. But make sure to call ahead, as the kangaroo is only served on weekends until supplies run out. [The Perfect Spot]

Also, in yesterday’s Other Critics roundup we neglected to mention the Chron’s review of Neela’s, a newish Indian eatery in Napa that specializes in lighter, more balanced fair than the average curry swimming in goop. Chef Neela Paniz used to be a banker, but opened her restaurant in order to highlight some of the subtler layers of spice in Indian cuisine, and offers things like delicately fried okra dusted with mango powder and shrimp samosas with mango.
