The rumor Grub Street caught wind of a couple weeks ago turns out to have legs, and as Tablehopper now reports, the Absinthe folks are looking to put a casual, mid-range restaurant and bar into the former Citizen Cake space at Grove and Gough. The vision for the new venture falls somewhere “in the middle of the higher-end offering at Absinthe, and the casual Arlequin,” and they’re aiming for a late summer opening. The bar program, like the one at Absinthe, will be headed up by Carlos Yturria, Jonny Raglin, and Jeff Hollinger, and they have not yet chosen a name or hired a chef. Alas, finally, there will be another decent drink option in Hayes Valley besides Smuggler’s Cove.
