A new boutique hotel and restaurant from Personality Hotels (the folks behind the Hotel Union Square, Hotel Vertigo, Hotel Diva, etc.) is likely coming to 72 Ellis Street, one door over from Powell and across the street from John’s Grill. Grub Street sees word today that hotelier Yvonne Lembi-Detert brings her new project before the Planning Commission this week, and seeing as it’s on the consent calendar it is all but guaranteed approval. We doubt the planned, 2,400-square-foot restaurant in the ground floor is less than a year from opening, but you heard it here first, folks. No word yet as to a proposed operator, but let’s hope it’s something fun and not just another King of Thai Noodle or whatever.
