While we work on our inaugural post for The San Francisco Diet, allow us to point you to today’s post from Grub Street New York in which the endearing James Oseland (editor of Saveur and Top Chef Masters judge) provides a food diary that begins while visiting his mother in the Kaiser hospital in Walnut Creek, where he calls the cafeteria “surprisingly okay.” He also drops in on nearby diner The Original Hickr’y Pit — where he says the pulled-pork stew is “very, very wonderful” and the banana-cream pie “transcendent” — before boarding JetBlue back to New York.
