Coffee Nerds to Converge on the Newly Open Sight Glass

Just last week we noticed the unassuming, partially open roll-up door at 270 7th Street with the makeshift barista counter inside, and now we gather that Sight Glass is aiming to be the next big coffee destination. As Jessica Battilana at 7x7 reports, they’re still under construction on their full-service counter and roastery, but they’re open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. serving up perfect coffee drinks from a handsome new $18,000 machine called The Slayer.

This device from the so-called “fourth wave” of coffee cultism “gives baristas the kind of power coffee nerds can only dream of. The water pressure can be changed on a shot midpull [and] settings for specific beans can be customized.” Alas, that Blue Bottle drip business you have in your hand is so 2008.
