Local Lemons blogger Allison Arevalo, the transplanted Brooklynite whose Fast Food Slow series we highlighted back in December, announced yesterday that she, her husband Alejandro, and two friends are planning to open a restaurant called Little Mac in the vicinity of Oakland’s Uptown district. The restaurant will feature a variety of macaroni-and-cheese dishes, as well as “salads, craft beers, California wines and nostalgic desserts like homemade Oreo cookies.”

Given the massive and enduring popularity of mac-and-cheese, not to mention the mini-boom of food establishments within walking distance of the Fox Theater (we’ve previously noted Picán, Ozumo, and Flora, but there are also new editions like True Burger, and the upcoming second location of Bakesale Betty), we imagine this concept will do well. Also, though the nationwide wave of comfort food menus is now about a decade old, this sort of focused approach is just the kind of buzzworthy gimmick to push a new restaurant over the top.

We wish them the best of luck, and hope they secure a location and get the doors open by mid-summer, as planned.

Which is Bigger: Little Mac or Asparagus?
