Temporary Closings

Citizen Cake Closes Tonight, Makes Its Move Uphill

Elizabeth Falkner’s flagship patisserie/restaurant, Citizen Cake, is serving its last dinners tonight in its Gough Street location. We spoke to pastry chef Maya Erickson about the move, and she explained that the menu at the new Pacific Heights café (2125 Fillmore) would be much simplified, with a focus on burgers, pizza, wine, and beer, and that the full patisserie and baking operation would be moving to the larger kitchen at Orson — though the Fillmore location will still offer Citizen Cake’s signature desserts. Erickson will become the second-in-command for pastry at Orson, under Falkner, and she’s looking forward to getting into the more molecular-style desserts on the menu there, after several years of being the self proclaimed “cake bitch” at the patisserie.

There are still reservations available at Citizen Cake for 7:30 p.m. tonight if you’re a fan and want to say you were there for their last dinner service.
