Unterman Pours Love and Rooster Sauce on Grain; Three Big Stars for Rosso in Santa Rosa

• Patricia Unterman says it’s the short-ribs that keep bringing her back to Daly City’s Grain. “The boneless meat is moist and buttery, infused with a sweet, brown onion gravy that seeps into the rice.” She’s not so big on their signature spicy pork noodle soup, however. [SF Examiner]

• Signore Bauer heads up to Santa Rosa for his favorite thing: pizza. He’s quick to say that Rosso Pizzeria and Wine Bar is “much more” than a pizzeria, and that it “exudes confidence and passion” — apparently three stars worth. He also dotes on the roast suckling pig they do on Sundays. [Chron]

• Never one to keep to the well traveled road of restaurants that need obvious reviewing, Paul Reidinger heads to the Outer Mission to Olivia’s Brunch and Fine Dining, for what he writes “is like going to your abuelita’s place after church on Sunday: the setting is plain but neat and warm, and the food is humble and earthy.” [SFBG]
