• After eleven years at their “enchanted address” of 20 Cosmo Place, Le Colonial gets the Reidinger treatment—which includes a full six paragraphs about the atmosphere of the space that once housed Trader Vic’s. He’s only kind of impressed with the food, noting several disappointments, but he can’t get enough of the Vietnamese inflected Brussels sprouts: “Using such intensely flavorful ingredients to subdue a notoriously uncooperative vegetable is the culinary equivalent of an enhanced interrogation technique.” [SFBG]

• Matt Stafford at SF Weekly digs on Queen’s Louisiana Po’ Boy Café, but concludes that the po’ boys, while decent, are “eclipsed” by the gumbo, which he calls, “a spicy, smoky, invigorating brew that’s even better with a little pulverized sassafras stirred in.” [SF Weekly]
