What Carl’s Jr. Doesn’t Want You to See

Carl’s Jr. has halted an ad campaign for its chicken parmesan sandwich in response to criticism from two Italian-American advocacy groups. The ads “featured mobster and garbage men characters that the advocacy groups said depicted Italian-Americans in a negative, stereotypical light,” says Nation’s Restaurant News. Carl’s Jr. has a reputation for “edgy” advertising — an earlier spot featured a Padma Lakshmi doing a striptease with a cheeseburger. Watch the video and decide for yourselves whether it’s offensive to Italians or just kind of dumb.
