Acme Getting Chopped By Year’s End

Traci Des Jardins announced late yesterday that the over-sized, under-starred Acme Chophouse will shutter by the end of the year, to reopen in time for the next baseball season as a more casual restaurant. She told Michael Bauer that she plans to retain as much of the staff as possible, including Thom Fox, who will head the new operation. Apparently business was too inconsistent to keep the giant restaurant at the ballpark going. “It has been hard to fill 330 seats in the off season,” she told Bauer. It probably didn’t help that Bauer gave the place one star in an update review last April. Whether they keep the name or get a new one, the plan is to do something that more people can afford, that is more baseball-themed, but that would also appeal in the off-season. Any suggestions?
