A New Record: BBQ Team Comes to Bruno’s

The pair that made the Broken Record a haven for smoked meat lovers (but then suddenly left in July) are getting back into the kitchen. Specifically, Ryan Ostler and Katharine Zacher are getting into Bruno’s kitchen next month, where according to Zagat they’ll serve “po’ boys, hush puppies, 20-hour smoked brisket and pulled pork sandwiches, along with Zacher’s made-with-love baked goods and a sizable selection of seasonal salads and healthier sides.” Meanwhile, James Moisey, who previously worked in the BR kitchen with Ostler and Zacher, has settled in as chef at the Broken Record. He’s moved away from strictly Southern cuisine to do a rotating menu of sandwiches (meatball, crab and corn fritter, pulled pork), appetizers (“tomato toast,” duck confit potato skins!) and Sunday burgers (“they’re a big deal,” says owner Jason King). Now you can get high-end bar-food on either end of Mission Street.
