Ducca Slips; Aicha Succeeds

• Michael Bauer checked in with Ducca, newly under the control of Lark Creek vet Erica Holland-Toll, who logged two and a half stars, down from the previous three. “the quality remains high, although the soulful Italian food I remember has become more Americanized.” [SF Chronicle]

• Paul Reidinger checked out the new/old metro cafe, which returned to its former name after a stint as Metro Kathmandu. The new inception isn’t exactly like the old, though: “The pediment of Chef Jacques Rousseau’s style is unmistakably Gallic — he offers snails, and need we say more? — but the menu is Californian, not French.” [SFBG]

• Meredith Brody enjoyed Aicha, despite its Halal abstention from alcohol. The wide-ranging menu covers Moroccan food quite thoroughly: “Among the more familiar tagines and kebabs, we found a few surprises, including particularly deep-flavored vegetarian dishes and a meatball-and-egg dish we’d never seen before.” [SF Weekly]
