Internos Flap Could Be a Teachable Moment

Photo: Internos

Oh dear: Seems there’s been some potentially homophobic flap over at Internos Wine Cafe. Eater reports that they’re taking a lot of heat for allegedly throwing out a gay couple who were kissing (and dropping a few f-bombs in the process), while the bar management claims the men were asked to leave because they were acting inappropriately. A “kiss-in” over the weekend brought some 40 protesters to the new-ish bar’s door, while Yelpers on both sides have dug in staunchly. This is one of those situations where we may never know the real truth of what happened, but perhaps it’s what our mother (and the president) would call a teachable moment. If Barack Obama can address racial tensions over a beer, here’s hoping the folks involved in this dust-up can work out their problems over a glass of vino and not an inflammable internet message board. Remember: Yelping is not helping.
