Bayless Takes Top Chef: Masters; Vegas Could be About the Food

As Top Chef: Masters wrapped up with the already-spoiled victory of Rick Bayless, the next generation of youngsters got let out of the pen on the premiere of Top Chef season six, which Grub Street NY contends may make up for last year’s. On the topic of Bayless’s final win against Californians Hubert Keller and Michael Chiarello, Grub Street Chicago points out that the top gringo of Mexican cooking worked the timing pretty smartly in opening Xoco right after his win, seeing as how his little empire is pretty well blowing up: “The next available reservation at Topolobampo is September 20, odds are good the lines at Frontera will be out the door for a good while yet.”

Meanwhile, back in Vegas, it seems our local cheftestants are something of a pack of boozers, having outed themselves during a challenge where chefs created dishes inspired by their vices. Also it looks like Mattin Noblia (“who will heretofore be called the Little Prince because of his ridiculous Running of the Bulls outfit”) is the one to watch, clothes-wise. All of our locals are still in the game, so let’s all tune in next week for more Petit Prince.
