Mobile Food Vendors Thick On Ground, Internet

SF Weekly has word of yet another food cart haunting the streets of the Mission District — this time hawking creme brulee. And guess what? He's on twitter!

This seems to be the new thing: mobile food vendors doing strangely specific products, availing themselves to the public via twitter/facebook/whatever web social thing. Call it cart 2.0. No, actually don't. That's stupid. But seriously, have you been paying attention the last few weeks? It seems like the whole city is awash with mobile food vendors on mobile internet devices.

In addition to the Creme Man, we've got the Magic Curry Kart, where the Magic Curry Man has been twittering himself into some small level of notoriety.

Then of course you had Mission Street Food's fantastic success with their initial truck inception. They used (and still use) a blogger account to great effect, posting menus and critical details about each night's service. Also, Da Beef, while still actually a mobile cart, has managed to become part of the 7th and Folsom landscape through regular appearances, a website, and a MenuPages profile.

We're still waiting for Amuse Bouche guy to get on twitter or something, but meanwhile, guess who's all the rage on facebook? That's right, the OG mobile food superster, your very own Tamale Lady!
