Top 100 Released: Indian, Communal Tables In; Steak, Thai Out

There were plenty of rumblings and grumblings in the Food Section this weekend, as Michael Bauer released his annual Top 100 list.

Bauer is quick to point out that the Top 100 is not simply the fanciest places alone, but rather “the restaurants have to be places where you’d want to spend your money, and return to again.” A mere 17 restaurants are new to this year’s list, including many followers of The Bauer Trend of 2006, communal tables.

There aren’t many surprises to the new additions, though the inclusion of two upscale Indian restaurants (Junnoon and Mantra) has led Bauer to believe that as a cuisine, “Indian has come into its own.”

So who else is in? Perhaps more importantly, which restaurants were booted off the list? Let’s just say it wasn’t a good year for the city’s already-few steakhouses. Full results after the jump.
